International Summer Institute for Business Management - August
The August International Summer Institute for Business Management (ISIBM) is a three week university course that combines high-level academics with a fun activity program. Taught by our award-winning professors from the Gustavson School of Business, this program pairs theoretical concepts with experiential learning. Topics covered are Business Communication, Entrepreneurship, Service Management and International Business.
Students from around the world take part in class discussions, debates and group presentations. Students work in pairs and small groups as well as complete a number of readings, homework assignments and tests. Students complete a group presentation to "pitch" their new business idea.
Study Business Communication and Management
Students join two full courses that cover Business Communication and Business Management (with a focus on Entrepreneurship, Service Management and International Business). Most participants are able to earn the equivalent of 6.0 North American credits from their home university. It is up to each student to gain permission from their home faculty.
Enjoy the best of the west coast of Canada
The activity program is included in both the July and August ISIBM. Students join social, cultural and tourist activities that highlight the best of Victoria. Previous years' activities have included whale watching, city tours, hiking, sports night, visits to the Sydney night market and Butchart Gardens. Activities take place in the evenings and weekends after classes.
On-campus accommodation/meals
Included in the cost of the ISIBM program is on-campus housing for all participants. Students will have their own private bedroom with a bed, desk, window and storage. They then share a living room, dining room, kitchen and washroom with 3 other students from a different language background. The campus housing is a 5 minute walk to all restaurants, cafes, gyms and classrooms. Each student is provided with a meal card to use at the various restaurants on campus.
Meet New Friends and Network!
During the program you will make new friends and network with future business professionals and leaders on a daily basis. Students come from all over the world including countries where English is the first language. Students who are non-native speakers of English can really improve their English communication skills.
